Arranging the drainage of a shower cabin is important, since without it there will be no comfort when taking water procedures. Incorrect installation of the drain will cause water to leak.
Provide a seat in advance and select the option for a fluid drainage system.
If it is assumed that the shower will be equipped with a tray, there may be two options:
In showers without pallets, drain drains are more commonly used, which are set below floor level. A feature of the system is the mandatory presence of a trellised platform; there is a drain hole under it. A drain receiving mechanism is mounted inside the drain hole. It is needed so that the drains do not go back to the shower, otherwise stagnation and an unpleasant smell will form.
To completely eliminate such problems, the floor in the shower is mounted with a bias towards the drain valve. It is important to think over the placement correctly, since if the grate is installed in the center of the shower, then the floor should be tilted in 4 × planes, and if the drain valve is placed in the corner, you can get by tilting it in one or two planes.
The ladder looks like a prefabricated system, which includes:
- the ladder itself;
- gaskets and seals;
- water seal.
The shower channel is an elongated rectangular case consisting of a grate with a drainage tray and a drain. The direct purpose of the species is to drain drains from the shower into the sewer. The shower channel is installed at the door to the bathroom or near the wall. The slope of the base must be done in one direction (depending on the place chosen for the channel). Fencing with pallets are numerous variations, which are presented in large numbers at retail outlets. The drainage scheme in them is simple: through a brass hole at the bottom. The arrangement of such a system is convenient. It does not require pre-preparation of the floor.
Fencing without a pallet is often found in public washrooms and saunas , but more recently in home bathrooms. The role of the drainage system in such showers is played by special openings in the floor, which are recessed below the floor level, at the stage of its installation.
There are a lot of engineering systems in modern stores, sometimes the line between types is blurred, and there is confusion in the definitions. To clarify the features of devices and installations, it is worthwhile to disassemble more systems for different souls
The main part of the systems is a siphon. The main purpose of this part is to protect the sewer pipes from clogging. Siphon classifications are interconnected with product height and lead-out diameter.
Systems are bottle-type and knee-type. Stainless steel, cast iron and plastic are used as the basis for production.
Different siphon designs have different flow rates. If you select a device with reduced performance, determined by the volume of water, then you can fill the entire floor when taking a shower. To avoid trouble, it is advisable to calculate the amount of fluid consumed before buying the device.
Particular care should be taken if construction details are not purchased as a set. Separate details and openings should correspond to each other.
Regardless of the choice of a particular system, you will need, in addition to siphons:
- plastic sewer pipes;
- work tools
Now more about the types of siphons.
- Users could see the bottle type option on sinks and sinks, here it is the main view. This siphon is successful for a booth with a pallet. The shape of the system resembles a bottle connected to a drain. On the side, a connecting pipe is led, which is sent to the sewer drain. The lower part of the structure is a screw cap that removes ingress of dirt. The system is easy to arrange and further clean.
- The siphon of the knee variant looks like a tube (curved S or U). Bending is supported by clamps. The main advantage is low height. However, cleaning the device is much more complicated, especially if the element is corrugated.
However, such a part is convenient to install, since the bend can be laid absolutely anywhere and at any angle. Corrugated pipe is often used to drain drains from the shower enclosure. Due to its elasticity, it is possible to implement an external beautiful system of outflow of water.
Assembly and installation
As described above, simpler installation - shower systems with a tray.
Turn the base over and secure the joints between the structure and the drain channel. Carry out the installation of the system and secure it all with system tools. Make sure the base is above the bottom edge of the system. Turn the base over and arrange it at the location. Adjust the feet in height. A difference of about five degrees should appear between the drain height in the siphon and the sewer drain.
You can connect the drain: install the mesh and protect the edges with sealant. Install the tee by connecting the bent pipe to the pipe using gaskets. If necessary, mount a special valve, here it can be replaced with a drain-overflow system (choose at your discretion).
If the shower does not plan to install a pallet, then its role will be played by the floor of the bathroom. To do this, it is initially laid at the right angle, so the existing base will have to be disassembled. A channel drain is installed directly on the floor. Fix it on all sides with cement mortar. To prevent the polished surface from getting damaged, glue the channel grate with construction tape.
Fix the channel with special brackets to the base of the floor. If the tray body is metal, ground it. On the sides of the case there are regulators with which you can align the device in accordance with the horizontal level. Pay particular attention to tightening the nuts: loose nuts will then be impossible to adjust or remove. The mechanism will be cemented at floor height.
Take the connecting hose and attach it to the nozzle. The other edge of the connection must be arranged to the tube. Be sure to tighten the hose. To prevent leaks, you can treat the pipe with a thin layer of silicone.
Next, fill the space remaining on the sides of the canal with cement. Consider the thickness of the finishing material to be laid on top. Ceramic tile can act as the base of the shower (it can be changed to any other waterproof material).
To prevent drains from collecting near the channel, the top of the tile should be slightly higher than the channel. When installing the fence without foundation, lay the tiles from the structure. The joint with it should turn out perfectly smooth, and the sharp edges should be absent altogether. For better drainage, you need to make a direct slope to the drain, which should be 1-1.5 cm per 1 m of the length of the entire base.
After laying the tiles, clean the joints with the edge of the structure and fill them with sealant. Protective tape from the structure can only be removed after the airtight layer has completely dried.
Installation of a shower ladder is similar to actions at arrangement of the previous design. Trap systems are cheaper than canals, but they are sold without locking mechanisms. Therefore, you should consider the installation diagrams and features.
The appearance of this drain mechanism resembles a simple housing with internal details: a button or valve and a discharge system. The device requires an initial hard installation at the right level. Installation in height will be provided by ordinary bricks, laid under the structure. Several tiles or other suitable materials are also suitable. It’s more difficult to adjust the horizontal position.
Control of the construction of the ladder is possible only after pouring the screed from the cement mortar (while it dries). Mandatory waterproofing is laid on the screed, and after that - the finish coating. After complete installation and some time of use, the internal parts of the device are easily disassembled. The drain pipe can only be cleaned with a special cable.
Before you buy a siphon, measure the gap between the outlet valve of the pan and the floor. The design should fit under the pallet.
Make sure the size of the pan valve matches the width of the neck of the system. Standard dimensions vary: 52, 62, 90 mm
Pay particular attention to the waste inlet cleaning system in the low bases of the shower enclosures.
When arranging a channel system, take into account some features.
- The channel throughput should not be less than the flow rate of the shower. For example, a regular hydromassage consumes 10 liters of water per minute.
- Consider the location of the tray from the nozzle, as well as to the sewer pipe. The smaller it is, the better.
- Check system throughput if in doubt. Try to fix the structure to the base and pipe and let water under pressure in it.
- Consider the diameter of the hose that comes from the nozzle. It should not be less than 40 mm. Its slope should be 30 mm per 1 m.
- To provide better access to the structure (for cleaning), select the sectional option. It is mounted in the doorway of the room.
